ANNOUNCEMENT

Archdiocese of Atlanta Eucharistic Congress Friday-Saturday, June 17-18

1st Holy Communion June 19, 10:30 am Mass

Dinner on the Ground after 1030 am Mass June 19

Baptism

Parishioners please contact one of the priests at least six weeks before the birth of a child.

Any Baptismal sponsor who is not a member of the parish will need a letter of good standing from the sponsor's pastor. Baptismal sponsors must satisfy the requirements for a Baptismal sponsor stipulated by the Catholic Church.

Adult inquirers to the Catholic Faith should contact one of the priests. A six-month course of instruction typically is required. The parish currently offers a weekly class for inquirers into the Catholic Faith. The class meets Tuesdays at 6 pm in the parish library (check the calendar to be sure, as the class periodically takes breaks). Any non-Catholic is welcome simply to show up at the class, though the priests always welcome meeting anyone interested in joining the Church established by Jesus Christ, the Catholic Church.

Confession

20 Minutes before weekday Masses.

Sundays 7:30am, 10:00am, & 12:30pm.

During Friday Holy Hour.

By appointment, and in cases of emergency available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call the parish office at (770) 948-6888. If it is outside office hours and you cannot reach anyone, and it is a true sacramental emergency, choose option 7.

Confirmation

Confirmation in the Archdiocese of Atlanta is administered to candidates at least 15 years of age. In recent years, Confirmation has been conferred in the month of March. A course of instruction is required prior to this, which takes place at the church on Saturday mornings after the 9:00am Mass, running from October through January inclusive.

Any Confirmation sponsor who is not a member of the parish will need a letter of good standing from their pastor. Confirmation sponsors must satisfy the requirements for a Confirmation sponsor stipulated by the Catholic Church, which are the same as those for baptism (per canon 893).

Extreme Unction

Parishioners should contact one of the priests. In a case of a true sacramental emergency, such as danger of death due to illness, one should call the emergency line at the parish. To do this, call (770) 948-6888 and select option 7. It is wise also to heed the instruction of the Roman Ritual, which requires the following items to be arranged in the room of the sick person when the priest arrives:

* In the chamber of the sick person there should be a table covered with a white cloth;
* placed there should be a container with cotton or similar material made into six separate pellets to bc used in wiping the parts anointed;
* a small piece of bread for cleansing the priests fingers,
* and a bowl of water for washing his hands;
* a wax candle to be ignited later to give light to the priest at he performs the anointings.

In fine, it shall be his concern that everything is as clean and orderly as possible for the administration of this sacrament.

This short 1962 video from Irish television gives a nice presentation on preparation for sick calls.

Marriage

Parishioners must contact one of the priests a minimum of six months prior to a desired wedding date. Attendance at a preparation program is required.

Holy Orders

Men who are seriously discerning a call to the Priesthood are invited to contact one of the priests.

Men or women who are seriously discerning a religious vocation also should contact one of the priests.
